In just a few short years, millions of artists and creators have collectively published more than 350 million works under Creative Commons licenses – making music, photography, film, and written compositions available to anyone in the world for free and legal sharing, use, and remixing. As a result, it is now possible for people working in creative industries to easily use, rework, and expand upon a giant pool of creative work, without having to ask permission and without worrying about violating the copyright rights of its creators.

Do I initiate a new creation when I draw the first designs or write down my ideas for the first time? What about all the ideas of others which have induced my ideas? Is my work some day finished? When I have decided to produce or sell it? Or is my creative work merely only one link of a chain within a creative process which is shared by many?
