The Semantic Web is a large-scale technical innovation with the goal of expanding parts of the existing World Wide Web with well structured, processable information into a decentralized, huge database. The Web of Data emerging from this is characterized by the availability of huge quantities of high-quality data which are partly available for experimental as well as commercial use. However, up to now the creative utilization of these resources has been a sandbox for IT-experts and remains invisible to outsiders.
